just got back from 2 week trip to switzerland and italy and really enjoyed our itinerary, noted below, our highlights included the omnia hotel in zermatt.hope it is helpful:
arrived in GVA and traveled to montreux, with day trips to Vevey, which included a 5 hr. walk from town to town through the vineyards, punctuated with wine tastings and dinner, and gruyere for fondue!
on to Zermatt and the matterhorn, and our favorite hotel the omnia. In to italy, with a stay in Bellagio,lk como is just beautiful..down to the veneto with a stay near padova in castle once lived in by the king of italy, and a lovely visit to asolo, one hr north of venice and in the heart of procesco region..anf finally venice, which i would aslo reccomend as other post have stated to keep away from staying near st marks square.we hired a art historian to tour the city with us,and it gave a dimension much enjoyed. we actually flew back to gva on a prop plane, over the alps, which was a tour in itself! have fun.
