We stayed at the Marincanto last year and loved it. Fantastic views from room balcony, dining terrace and sun terrace. Covo is a very nice hotel (had dinner at the restaurant) but you will not get the views at it is down by the ferry dock.

As for Rome, you might want to consider the Albergo Santa Chiara. Great location steps to Pantheon. Rooms, while not particulary fancy, have been recently renovated and are very nice. Outdoor patio. http://www.albergosantachiara.com/

Thank you for the suggestion, Weekender, the Albergo is booked. I really want to stay at the Marincanto, I hope something opens up. Sounds like the Miramare may be a better choice for views.

In Positano, I'd go with the view hands down. The best reward for all the walking up and down Positano is sitting on your terrace at night with a glass of wine or limoncello gazing at the view.
