Geneva is 95% surrounded by France -- 103 km bordering France and only 4.5 km bordering the rest of Switzerland. A lot of the other Swiss disparage Geneva as actually being part of France. This just makes it more interesting in my opinion.

"A lot of the other Swiss disparage Geneva as actually being part of France"
I'm a Swiss citizen and I never heard about that. There are some "flatteries" between Lausanne and Geneva, like: "au bout du lac, ça râle toujours!" "au bout du lac, il ne font que des genevoiseries (Swiss synomim for foolish acts)", "Lausanne est une paysanne qui a fait ses maturités" "les Vaudois ont un accent à couper" "les Vaudois sont les Bernois parmi les Romands" But no serious Swiss would call a Genevan "un sacré Gaulois" This pet name is used for French people only. |
You haven't heard what they say in Zürich then. Unfortunately, all of my Swiss friends are from Zürich or Bern.

Need to train to France so we can rent a car in france to return in France. |
Go to Germany, they got a 9 Euros monthly ticket, you can use the local trains for sightseeing ;)
