Given that timeframe, a week in Rome with maybe 1 or 2 nights in Sorrento with a visit to Pompeii. This is assuming you are flying in and out of Rome.

Really depends on your interests, if you like the countryside then it must be Tuscany, if you like cities and museums and architechure, its Florence and Rome. I have been to all, and Venice is my favourite place. Just a lovely place to wander and take in the atmosphere of this unique city on water. Also if you like the sea and scenery, the Amalfi Coast is wonderful. We visited the Amalfi Coast for a weekend from Rome and saw Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello and Capri. Hope this helps.<BR>Isobel
