Planning Rome eats...
 

Hi! I'm back seeking some more help.. We will be spending our first and last day in Rome and would like some help with our eats.

We are arriving around 1PM in Rome(on a friday)and after checking in at www.banchivecchi115.com are planning to spend our first afternoon walking around. We have planned on visiting the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi fountain and Spanish steps.I have printed out the cafes in Rome list(from ST) to help with our walk. Does this sound doable?

So now the questions:
1.We'd like to celebrate MIL's b'day that night at a pizzeria (first meal in Italy!! and MIL loves pizza). We are not looking for a high priced or crowded place. More for the perfect ambience and food. I've looked at all the pizzeria recommendations here and have'nt found anything that sounds perfect (da baffeto sounds crowded, Pizza Re sounds a bit of walk). So any other suggestions?

2.The next morning MIL & FIL are taking a tour of the vatican museums and the rest of us would like to walk a bit more(not sure where yet) and meet up for lunch close to our hotel before we all leave by bus to Siena. Any suggestions for lunch close by?

My husband and I loved the Old Bear Taverna on via Dell'Orso near Piazza Navona. Reasonably priced and really good food. And heavenly ricotta cheesecake for dessert!

Sue..I think that any place that serves great pizza is going to be crowded at peak times..for good reason.
Perhaps you can get there before the dinner rush begins..

I'm with ekscrunchy! The good ones are crowded for a reason.
We love da Buffato and always arrive when they're opening...I love their pizza!

Thanks, so should I stick to da baffeto? And try to get there at 7:30 on a friday?

Hi! I've been reading some more and wondering about
La Sagrestia near Pantheon for pizzeria dinner and Osteria Galleto(Da Giovanni) near Campo for lunch. What do you guys think?

I too suggest da Buffetto. As mentioned above, its crowded for a reason! But we got there when it opened and it really didn't get too crowded until about the time we were finished and ready to leave. The pizza is delicious!

Hi! But Gusto looks like a bit of a walk from our hotel but otherwise sounds great!

We ate lunch at La Sagrestia in February of this year. It was a more formal sitdown atmosphere than da Baffetto but not expensive and the food was good (I had pasta cacio e pepe but my husband had a pizza). It wasn't crowded at lunch but I don't know what it's like at dinner. We also had dinner at da Baffetto--it was good but definitely crowded and we were really squished into our table.

Thanks outwest, I am leaning towards Sagrestia too..
