Planning Mother/Daughter Trip to Paris

My husband and I recently stayed in the 7th in Paris for two days. Not long enough to do anything other than "browse" really. Now I am planning a trip with my mother and after a lot of research have some questions I was hoping you might help us with.

1. How is the weather in September? We are thinking this month would work best with our schedules. Mom is from NY and I am from FL so a cool month would be nice for walking but we are hoping it would not be too chilly in September.

2. I loved the 7th when we stayed there and am not sure about where to stay now. We are looking at apartments in the 1st, 3rd, and 7th. Any suggestions?

3. We are trying to narrow down apartment choices and are leaning toward one in the 3rd. We would like to be close to the Louvre and markets for fresh foods. Any suggestions?

Everyone here is always so helpful with suggestions here so we would appreciate any help you can offer.

Thank you!

We stayed at the two bedroom "Place des Victoires" apartment from www.vacationinparis.com in 2003. It's at 25 rue Herold in the 1st. I was happy with the apartment and the agency, which is based in New Jersey. Their deposit was lower than lots of other agencies we checked, and there were no glitches with the apartment or getting our deposit back. It's about a ten minute walk to the Louvre in one direction, and about the same to a pedestrian-only shopping street in the other. Rue Herold is a quiet street that is just one block long. Print out a map ahead of time to help cab drivers find it.

www.parisvacationapartments.com provided us wonderful apartments at the Palais Royal (actual old palace), steps from the Louvre, with beautiful garden views. Highly recommend this company-first class service all the way. We were 5 blocks from Monoprix and about 7 blocks from outdoor market behind St. Eustice (Montrigaul?). A tiny 7/11 type store was minutes away via the back entrance on our street, but for emergencies only.

I assume, given that you are married, that your mother is "of a certain age". I think she would like the 6th near the 7th or the 7th near the 6th. The 16th would also be a real possibility. The weather in Sept. should be fine but always layer and bring an umbrella.

Just curious - since it is currently September 17, are you talking about September 2006?

Travelbunny....Yes, mom is "of a certain age". *smile* However, quite youthful. She is 66, I am 47. And I quite agree with you that the 7th would be more up her alley.

Isabel....Yes, 2006.
