Planning family weekend in Paris

For the first time (for my wife and 12-years-old son) we will come to Paris for two days after Christmas (yes, I try to plan well beforehand). We shall arrive from Brussels (which is our major destination for the trip) in the morning and stay till next day evening. So, we'll have two days in late December Paris. Where to go and what to do?
I know it is too short a trip for such a city - that's why I am asking! Louvre? museum d'Orsay? No? I will appreicate your opinion.

Hi I,

Look up Paris under "destinations". There are 1, 2 and 3 day plans.

I'm always curious to know - when someone chooses to visit a city, then asks, 'what to do there?' - what was it that caused you to choose that city? Therein lies a kernel of an answer to your question...

ira, thanks for a hint.

Travelnut, I do know pretty much about Paris. I want my son to have look at the city. And I can imagine many things to do there. If I had a week or two for my trip, I would shape my itinerary when I am in. Unfortunately, I have just two days, and I want your opinions on what is aboslute MUST and what can be postponed for the next time...
Did I answer your question?

With just two short days, I would skip the Louvre all together. If the sun is shining, head for St. Chappelle and Notre Dame. Your son might ejoy the Catacombs and the Cluny Museum. L'Orangerie is a wonderful small museum. But above all, you should figure out what your family would enjoy most...museums, churchs, shopping, eating...
