Planning a European Honeymoon
 

My fiance and I are trying to plan a 10-14 day honeymoon in Europe for next spring (2012). So we'll either have 8 or 12 days on the ground, not sure yet. We want to spend time in Paris for sure, but have thought about doing a day trip to Luxembourg and possibly Trier also. London is a possibility, but I am wondering if it would be worth it for just a few days there? I also want to spend one day at Disneyland Paris. We're not huge museum people, but obviously the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Versailles The Louvre, and I'd like to see the catacombs as well as a few other things. Obviously if we only take a 10 day honeymoon, we wont have much time to venture out of france, so we're thinking about upping it to 14 total days.
I don't know too much about Europe except for Germany, as I lived there for a year 10 years ago. ?

Sorry if this is so jumbled...basically, what I want to know is
1) what is the best way to use our time? What can you all recommend?
2) Apartments or hotels? how do I find apartments?

Start with Paris under "Destinations".
Get some guide books, make a draft itinerary. You might want to do 8 days in Paris or extend your time to visit somewhere nearby.

2. If you rent an apt, you will be doing more cooking and cleaning than in a hotel.

For a honeymoon I would definitely want a hotel - preferable one with a restaurant, nice bar, 24 hour room service (breakfast in bed) and a good concierge. But then I never cook at home - why ever would I do so on vacation.

You really need to do some more work to see what you want to see/do, what style vacation yuo want and what your budget is. For just 8 days I would stay in paris and do 1 or 2 day trips. For 12 you might divide between Paris and London.

Be sure to get an open jaws flight - into the first city and out of the last - in order to avoid wasting time backtracking.

ira and nytraveler, it's never necessary to cook when you rent an apartment. Nor is it necessary to clean. An apartment offers more space and more privacy. And it is kind of convenient for coffee in the morning (without getting dressed) and for snacks and take-out food. But for first-time visitors a hotel would probably provide more help and hand-holding.
