Planes & Trains

A couple of questions...has anyone done the overnight train from Madrid to Seville? Is a day trip to Morocco worth it? And I'm thinking of taking an a.m. flight from Malaga back to Barcelona the day I'm to fly back to the U.S. in the afternoon (3 hrs in between). Cutting it too close?

If you get the chance, check at your local public library for a tape of the Rick Steves videotape "Costa del sol and Morocco". It seems to me (even though I have never been to Morocco) that he paints a balnced view of a day trip to Morocco - - the good, the bad and the ugly. Hmm - - that's two negative adjectives, one positive one, isn't it? - - well you decide.

Best wishes,

Rex
Jeanne: If you're thinking of taking a day trip just to Tangier, no, it's not worth it. Abandon the idea immediately. The boat crossing is horrific, Tangiers is hardly representative of Morocco, and your day will be filled with bad boat crossings, pestering by child "guides," bad food, an intense atmosphere, and very little introduction to the Moroccan culture. Save Morocco, which is a wonderful country, for a trip where you can enjoy what it really has to offer. Tangier ain't it.

I don't think there is an overnight train from Madrid to Seville...It's only takes 2.5 hours on the high speed AVE Train.

If there is an overnighter, it must be a very slow train. I know that there's an overnighter from Madrid to Granada.

Check out www.renfe.es (the Spanish national train company)
