Plane, train or car from Trento to Amalfi??

Any advice on getting from Trento area to Amalfi? Looking for a quick, uncomplicated route since we have limited time and are traveling with 2 kids.

Hi Anno - Air Italy fly the Verona-Naples route.

By train or car it would be a long journey. For train times Trento-Salerno see:

Hope this helps ...

Hi an,

>...we have limited time and are traveling with 2 kids. <

You are traversing nearly the entire length of Italy.

You might want to consider staying in the North or visiting the South, but not doing both, if you have limited time.

Otherwise, I go with Steve.

After arriving in Naples, I suggest either a private limo (in the vicinity of 115E) or taking the train to Salerno and the ferry or SITA bus to Amalfi.

How much time do you have?
Are these small kids, that you would have to carry on and off trains/buses?

That will not be easy--especially with 4--are you sure that is a good idea? And, do you really want a car at Amalfi?

Thanks for the speedy advice. Have been to Italy several times (before kids). Have visited close friends near Trento each time we have gone so have spent most of our time in the north (never been south of Sienna). Looks like flying is our best bet to Amalfi coast. Kids are 8 and 10. Thinking the whole family will be interested in Pompei, Capri and the scenery of the coast but I welcome any advice! Thanks again!

Still not easy. By air only gets you to Naples, not the Amalfi coast. Decide what you really want to see and then where to stay---Sorrento may be your best bet. Also, how long to stay--that may make an apt. a factor--always a good idea. With 4 of you, I would still drive, but not in one day. Spend a nite enroute--perhaps at Tivoli---and then hit Pompeii before Sorrento while you still have the car. Drop it In Sorrento. It is not easy--you have to want to.
