Plane to Train in Milan Italy

Has anyone recently gone from Milan's Malpensa airport (MXP) to Milan Centrale station? I know a shuttle runs into town from the airport every half hour, but does it go to the public transit system or to the train station? If it goes to public transit what line shall I take to get to Centrale?

Hi annika,

The shuttle bus goes to Milan Centrale train station.

The airport train runs to Milano Cordona station, not centrale station. The Malpensa Shuttle bus takes 60 mins to reach Centrale station, leaving 1-2 hourly. there's no reason to take rail, even if you have a railpass as these are not valid on this train line, run by the North Milan train system, not a part of Trenitalia. However if going to Como area you can go by rail by changing once - yet even to these locales buses are more convenient.

I do that route all the time, was just there a couple months ago. From outside the airport terminal on the baggage claim level, you will see the white Malpensa Shuttle bus waiting curbside. The fare is 4,50 euros per adult. The drive into Milano is 50 minutes and you are delivered right to the Milano Centrale train Station (the last stop).

Hello, I will be travelling into Milan by rail and need to go directly to the airport. Is the shuttle the best way to get to the Malpensa airport as well?
Thanks in advance

Yes, Kaiesha, it is....exactly in reverse. Go outside the Milano Centrale train station and you will see the white Malpensa Shuttle bus curbside. You can buy your ticket directly from the driver. The ride to the airport takes ~ 50 minutes so plan accordingly re: your flight boarding, etc.
