Plane tickets
We are planning a trip to Ireland next May. We will be flying into Shannon. What is a reasonable rate for a round trip ticket this time of year?
from where?
From Cardiff? Shouldn't be much at all, but it might be better to take the ferry.
We are leaving from Boston, Massachusetts to Shannon, Ireland
We went to Ireland 2 years ago in late May. We went on Priceline and bid $400.00. Total cost for roundtrip ticket, including tax, $450.00 from Newark to Shannon. By the way, the flight was on Continental. Only down side to the whole thing is you can't get frequent flyer miles on Continental thru Priceline.

Enjoy your trip.
$380 - $480 total would be a ballpark range for 1 person
jeez getting a good rate shouldn't be that hard Boston is Irish country, you can probably find an agent that specialized on trips to ireland.
Aer Lingus flies out of Boston, so you should be able to get some pretty good rates. In May, it should be between 300-400. Try sceptre for airfares. They book aer lingus.

Bill

My husband and I just got our whole trip, airfare, car, 6 nights (one in a castle) and taxes for $1400 from Baltimore (to Boston) to Shannon from Sceptre.
Hi, Check out Aer Lingus' website (www.flyaerlingus.com) as the prices on this are usually cheaper than the ones quoted by travel agents ( in my experience anyway..)
Definitely look at aer lingus.
I just booked a flight for 3/31 - 4/14
for $346 RT. ($416 with taxes) From Chicago to Shannon.

You should be able to get something similar.
Aer Lingus is running a deal right now for $198 r/t to Shannon or Dublin. Check their website.
Wow - what a deal - only problem is you have to complete your travel by March 31st, And only to DUBLIN, not Shannon. so Peg wouldn't qualify for this one.
(although this price would be worth changing travel dates for. )

Check to see

I've not been lucky snagging really low fares to Ireland for warm weather months, I suspect because there is less competition on those routes than to London or the continent and demand is pretty strong from May through September. If you see prices below $500 for the dates you want, you should probably grab them.
p.s. I've always been shopping only for airfares, never packages .
Don't want to argue with you, Debbie, but it IS DUBLIN and Shannon. You're right about the dates though :-)
Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and help. We are looking forward to our trip.
