Plane arrival to Aix, depart from Avignon
Flying from the US and my first city I will visit is Aix and the last city I will stay in after going to Arles is Avignon. What are my best options, transfer wise and fare wise to fly to and from the US. Will be in Paris in March and again in Nov, so can transit there but do not need to stay. Solo female, young at heart with 1 carryon. Thanks.

To get to Aix from the East Coast, check for flights in to Marseilles. We did this last summer, changing planes in Madrid. Faster than flying through Paris.

Yes, I would fly to Marseilles then take the bus to Aix.
We flew to Paris, then train to Aix TGV Station then Bus into the actual town. It was a loooong journey that way. |
Leaving Avignon, is it better to go back to marseilles or head to Paris?

You really should indicate what airport is your "home" airport. If you have a direct flight to Paris or Nice, it makes a big difference. Specify the date you need to be in Aix, and also Avignon. Trains often have different schedules on weekends, and flights can change depending on the season. Also, do you plan on renting a car? There is no second "s" in Marseille. Stu Dudley |
Coming from Phoenix and decided to fly RT to Marseille. Costs a little but more but eliminates the bother of multiple trains, etc. Since Aix will be my first stop will leave Avignon a day early and stay in Marseille instead of doing a day trip from Aix.
Thanks for all the comments. |
