plain, nice, and cheap london hotel

I'm writing from the high-speed connection in my studio rental in Hyde Park called London House. I found it on one of the apartment rental services and I was quite nervous about this place since it runs 50 pounds/night for a week stay but I am so happy I need to crow. The accomodations are plain, but clean and well located if you don't want to be in the west end hub-bub. We're one block from Kensington Gardens and the Lancaster Gate tube stop and the neighborhood has lots of little cafes and shops that are open almost through the night. The front desk is lovely (she said, picking up the jargon) and the room is quiet.

And that's my two cents on the subject of inexpensive hotels in London. The city is so remarkably expensive for those of us with dollars that I'm really happy I'm using the money for theater tickets, fun food, and taxis when my feet can't take another step.

Is the apartment appropriate for more than one person?

Everyone appreciates tips about good, inexpensive housing especially in London.

That's wonderful to hear. I'm coming to London on Thursday (yea!!!!) and am booked into the Craven Gardens Hotel which must not be too far from where you are (it's aboaut 4 blocks I think from the Bayswater tube stop). They are even cheaper - £39 a night but of course I am worried that it won't be anything like the web site, which really does look fine. Anyway, could you give me more details (do they have a website). Probably too late to change things now but I'd like to at least look into it. Thanks

I think you've done alright in London House at 50 pounds js. I did not particularly like the Lancaster Gate tube stop but we were two women on our own and probably had nervous jitters about everything.
Isabel- I know Craven Gardens because we were in Leinster Terrace not far from there. Queensway Tube was our "home" destination station. Do yourself a favour if you enjoy Chinese Food and pay a visit to The Magic Wok opp. Bayswater tube. Lovely & cheap.
There are lots of others in that street(Queensway) but not as nice foodwise.

I'm sharing with my daughter, I have the double bed, she has the twin. I think there are several other configurations here. They do have a website, just search "London-House." We are exactly between the Lancaster Gate and Queensway tube stops--there's been no problems with either station.
