Places worth visiting in Calabria

I am in Calabria, in a small town just outside Cosenza. I am visiting family/friends but would like to explore other places in Calabria. I have heard wonderful things about Tropea, Pizzo and Capo Vaticano. Although, I read that Tropea's beaches are dirty, and the town needs some TLC. Is this true?
Also, what other places would you suggest worth visiting while in Calabria, and how many days would you recommend for each place? I will be in Calabria for another 3 weeks. I am looking for nice sandy beaches, some shopping, historical sites.
Thanks.

LaSila National Park is beautiful - gorgeous mountain scenery.

We stayed in Tropea several years ago and found it beautiful and charming. I certainly dont recall any issues with dirty beaches. There are a number of excellent seafood restaurants in town. Aside from Tropea, Pizzo was cute, but you really don't need to spend more than an hour there.
Inland, we enjoyed the town of Serra San Bruno, which has some shops and baroque churches.
Cosenza and Tropea were our favorite places in Calabria. Beyond that, there was little tourism infrastructure and it was unusual to find a town that offered anything for visitors. If you want some more excitement, why not head over to Puglia for a week?
