Places to stay near Viterbo/Bomarzo?

I am tweaking our final Italy itineray, and since my family wants to stop off at the Moster Garden on the way to Sorrento, I think it would be best to stop off for the night in a nice place near Viterbo. The next day we can travel the rest of the way to Sorrento. Does anyone have any suggestions on a nice place to stay? My budget is 300.00 per night, would like to spend less if possible.
Thank you so much!

This was years ago, but the tourist office in Viterbo sent us to a hotel in Bagnaia which is near the gardens of the Villa Lante. For 300 you should have no problems finding a place.

There are some wonderful places in the area which is enjoying a boom...prices are still very good, less expensive than nearby Tuscany..and much less than Rome. Check out www.elegantetruria.com for books on the area and the partners page for recommended accomodations .

You could look at the lakeside town of Bolsena, which isn't far away and is lovely.

I don't know where else your trip is taking you, but if it doesn't include a marvelous, untouristed, historically rich and beautifully preserved small Italian town stretching back to Etruscan times, the very nearby small town of Civita Castellana might work really well for you. I know there is a relais there, and some agriturismi close in, as well as other hotel choices in various price ranges. Some simple googling will show you what I mean. Here is a description of the town:
