Places to stay in Tuscany

Hi - we are traveling to Tuscany at the end of May and was wondering if anyone has recommendations on hotels/B&B to stay in that area. Also, can you recommend which city in Tuscany to stay? We are torn between Chianti, Siena and Cortona, but not sure which city would be most relaxing and beautiful yet convenient for us to take day trips to places like Florence and Pisa. Thank you for any feedback!

How much time do you have in Tuscany? That might help with suggestions.

Personally, I just love the southern area of Tuscany and prefer to stay there. But if you really want to visit Pisa as well as Florence, the Chianti region is probably the best as far as location. Cortona is too far from Florence and especially Pisa for day trips.

Maybe you could break up your stay and stay in the northern area of Tuscany or a couple days and the southern area for a couple days.

PS I'm not that familiar with Cortona, but I would recommend Montepulciano or San Quirico or Pienza or Montalcino instead. The val d'orcia is gorgeous.

Siena would be best for the scenario you describe. Which town in Chianti were you thinking of? Will you have a car?

Just came back from Italy 2 weeks ago. Stayed at the Hotel Palzzo di Valli in Siena. The price was 150 euros per night for a triple. It is off the main road entering Siena. It has fantastic views of the local countryside and Siena from huge shuttered windows in the rooms. Very nice grounds and quiet. There is plenty of parking. Our room was large and had a big, clean bathroom.
I found the hotal on Venere site and it was better than I expected. The wisteria was in bloom and covered the entranceway in a fragrant purple waterwall of flowers.
