Places to enjoy Bastillle celebration in France

Hello,

I will be traveling in Sarlat with my husband and two girls and it appears that we check out on Bastille Day! We will have a rental car and will be heading towards Paris. We plan to drive since the train will be more expensive. We would like to break the trip up and allow our girls (3 and 7) to enjoy the festivities of Bastille Day. Any suggestions? We would be open to staying up to two nights.

Many thanks!

Hi, I'll put in a vote for the Loire Valley, eg Montrichard or Amboise. These places are only about three hours drive from Sarlat, straight up the A20, then northwest from Chateauroux. Then you could get to see one or two gorgeous chateaux while you're there. But I'd recommend you book a hotel or B&B early, as it will be busy there.

Thank you for your suggestions! We just read about Amboise and there seems to be a lot for our girls to explore. will definitely look into reserving a hotel or B&B in advance.

Thanks again!
