Places to eat near Ataturk International Airport- Istanbul
We have an overnight stay at a hotel near the Ataturk International airport. We would like to "get out" of our hotel and go someplace a short cab ride away to have dinner. Any suggestions for a non-touristy " meal?

If you like fish, try one of the fish restaurants in Yesilkoy, possibly "Balikci Hasan" It is turbot time, but expensive. Sea bass is always a safe choice.
If you like red meat, you must go to beyti, the best meat restaurant in the country. Do not do the touristy or naive thing ans allow them to bring you their different specialities one after the other, but choose one or two.
I strongly recommend the lamb chops which are heavenly.
You can also share a meatball (kofte) or a doner also rathr than a starter.
we like a side bean salad (piyaz). Their regular side salad is also OK.
If you wish for a Southeastern kebap and regional starters, go to Kasibeyaz, also at Florya. Try Keme kebap if in season. (I would prefer the grills at Beyti though)
Beyti is frequented by everyone, families, business people, tourists, VIPs, visiting heads of state, etc. But not that expensive and is good value. The cost will be similar to a fish dinner almost anywhere, especially if it is turbot.
