Place to stay in Hallstatt
 

Hello,

I am choosing between the Braugasthof Hallstatt or the Gathof Simony. The rate is a little more at the Simony but now by much. Does anyone have a perspective on which place would be the best for lodging?

If there is another recommendation I'm open.

We stayed at the Simony a couple of years ago and are booked there again this coming September. Nice, shabby chic sort of place that sits right next on the lake. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the lake. I remember the breakfast was good.

Have not stayed at the Braugasthof but I believe it has gotten a good review or two here on Fodor's.

I have stayed at Gasthof Simony 4 times, last month being the latest. I love it, but I have read that some people say they can hear through the walls. I have been fortunate enough that I have had no problems. And I will return again next year. The restaurant there is very good. You may want to check for reservations. One night was booked while I was there. I'm not familiar with Braugasthof. I have probably walked right past it and didn't notice.

I stayed at the Braugasthof about 2 years ago. I liked it and my room had a great balcony overlooking the lake. Bathroom and shower are very small. Good breakfast. Very clean.

I stayed here - http://www.zauner.hallstatt.net/index.php?lang=en - nice place but no view. I thought that if I went back I'd stay at the Braugasthof. Nice people, good food and right on the lake.

There ARE rooms with views at Gasthaus Zauner! We stayed in one!
