Place in Pisa to store luggage??
We will be stopping in Pisa for the day to go to the tower and will have our luggage. Does anybody know if there is a place to store the luggage at the train station?
We are coming from Cinque Terre on our way to Rome. I have read the previous posts, but they all seem to be out dated (several years old). Thanks |

That is the link to Ferrovie dello Stato that shows station services (If it works.) You will see Pisa Centrale has a Deposito Bagagli or Left Luggage. |
Is Pisa Centrale the same as Pisa San Rossore train station? We've read it's better to go to San Rossore as it's only a 10 minute walk to the tower. If those are 2 different stations, does the San Rossore station have luggage storage as well?

They are not the same station and S. Rossore does not have luggage storage.

That's too bad - thanks for the info.

Pisa Centrale is only ~20 min walk so not a big deal.

There are buses, too.
Most people walk the obvious straighter route as per the map, but if you add 5 minutes you get a much nicer experience. Look at the bridges on the map and pick the Ponte di Mezzo, on the other side go along the Borgo Stretto (pedestrians only), there are nice little shops, cafés in side alleys... Then veer left and find the Piazza dei Cavalieri. This could be a movie backdrop for a period film, if you ignore a few modern details it transports you back by a few centuries. Now you're almost at the Piazza dei Miracoli where the tower stands next to the cathedral and baptistry. Use google maps or mappy.com, you'll see. |
