Place Des Vosges/ Marais Hotels?

I am looking for a nice three-star or four-star hotel in the Place Des Vosges area. I have stayed at Pavilion De La Reine before, and I like it; though I find it a bit overpriced (compounded,of course, by the weak dollar). Are there any nice alternatives in the area that might be a better value, say 250-300 euros/ night, instead of 400 euros/ night. Thank you.

Anyone?

Maybe there aren't many 4* hotels in that area?

Well, you said 3*s, too, so this one looks nice:

- - Recently refurbished, one review (positive) on TA.

- - Opened a couple years ago, design hotel, small but funky/stylish rooms

Thank you Travelnut. Hotel Petit Moulin looks very interesting; great website too.

Three years ago I stayed at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie, a 3*** hotel in the Marais distict - http://www.hotelbretonnerie.com/bretonnerie.htm

It's a smallish, boutique style, hotel. As I was travelling alone I booked one of the cheaper rooms, which was small, but with great decor and furnishings, and a good bathroom.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Place des Vosges, and most of the attractions around the Marais. The area felt very safe, and I can't recall much noise at night.

I'd stay there again, and it is well and truly within your price range.

Definitely check out the hotel toastandbutter suggests. I haven't stayed there, but I did rent an apt a block away, and the location was perfect.

You've got tons of cafes, restaurants, galleries, interesting shops, etc within a few blocks, and the neighborhood has great architecture and an excellent vibe.

I have also stayed at the Bretonnerie and can recommend. The rooms are different from one another..see if you can choose before you book. Excellent location in western Marais...

Thank you all. I decided to book Pavillon De La Reine; I got a relatively reasonable rate by calling directly. Something about being right on the Place is so nice..I will check out the other hotels when I am there.

I will also probably stay in the 6th for some of my trip (I like staying in different arrondisements if I am stayng for a week or so); at the D'aubusson or I might try Hotel Luxembourg Parc since so many people say great things about it.

Another vote for hotel Bretonnerie. The rooms in the front can be alittle noisy so try for an upper floor. There are some quieter rooms in the back but some are very small so ask before you reserve. The staff are very friendly and the public areas have charm. This is in the epicenter of the gay area so if that bothers you look elsewhere.
