Pisa for the day....is there anything to do
Anything there besides the tower of Pisa

Thanks zeppole for that great link.
Euromom, the tower itself is just a small part of all that Pisa has to offer. Take the time to see the museum, the baptistry (wait to listen to the acoustics performed- every half hour I think), the cemetery and other components that make up the Campo dei Miracoli. Walk down and see the Roman bath ruins. Sit and have some pizza or gelato. Discover the historic Santa Maria Quarter. Stop and have some strawberries and champagne or a pastry on the Borgo Stretto. If it's morning, don't miss the open market--authentic Italians, though you will see a few tourists as well. Don't have a lot of time? Spring for one of the horse carriage rides that gives you a tour of the historic district (they have two options-we took the shorter one). Fun way to see all the architecture without putting out a lot of energy. Pisa is one of my favorite week-end get-aways. It has so much deeper value than running in to snap a few photos of a leaning tower (though I'll admit it is quite a sight). Happy Travels! |
Zeppole and Klondiketoo!
Some great advice and thanks! |
Here are some of the things to do in Pisa, including that off-kilter tower but looking beyond it as well like campo de miracoli, Pisa's Duomo, Pisa's Baptistery.old citadel & Guelph tower.
