Pisa - Airport Transfer

We are flying into Pisa in May and we are looking for transport for 5 adults & 3 children to take us from the airport to a village called Calci which is located 14 kms east of the city. We have been to Tuscany a number of times before and we normally hire a car to get around, however this time we don't want or need to drive as we are right next to a village with restaurants, shops etc. If we want to go to Lucca etc we can always use the local bus. Does anybody have any experience with taxis at Pisa airport or are there any other suggestions apart from hiring a car? Would be grateful for any help/advice.

14 km is less than 9 miles. For that number of people, I would arrange a van. I know that's not the advice you were hoping for, but I think it makes the most sense.

Hi johnmel,

i agree with ellenem. i would arrange a minivan. the pisa taxis operate on a co-operative, so you can't usally book a cab - there will be some at the airport.

however, as there are so many of you, you might like to try the following company, which I found on the web - www.holidaytaxis.com.

good luck,

regards, ann

Thanks for this information annhig,
however holidaytaxis.com have just quoted me £380($760)for the return trip which I think is scandalous given that this is a 20 minute trip each way. I guess we will have to try our luck hiring a couple of taxis at the airport when we arrive.

Bus from sirport to bus station (due North by train station)(pretty quick) wait for bus to Calci.

Airport web site has town bus timetable, not sure where to find the Calci time table, probably worth trying Pisa TI web site

I've had good luck finding transfer services in Europe by using http://www.limos.com. You enter your needs and multiple companies will send you quotes by email.
