Picture in Fodor Paris book
Hi, I have Fodor book for Prais, There is beautiful picture for Sacre- Coeur on page 128 that shows a narrow street and on top of it the Scare- Coeur, I wonder if anyone has same book and knows what is the name of that little street, I will be is Paris in 10 days and will be visiting this place and would love to take similar picture
Thanks |
I don't have the book but that won't stop me :-)
Is it this view? Then it is Rue de Steinkerque, go up from the Anvers metro. http://www.flickr.com/photos/giubit/3988848785/ Or is it this view? Then it is Rue Norvins, go wind around from the Lamarck-Caulaincourt metro. http://www.nileguide.com/destination...-Parisinfo.jpg |

Weird picture, but the building is La Madeleine.
|
This has been Photoshopped. Not a real photo. What's that building in the middle?
If you were taking a photo with La Madeleine in the foreground then Sacre Coeur would be much smaller because it's in the distance. |
Also look at the buildings in the middle of the image - none of it looks real. All the buildings look like they're floating around and that faint white building in front of Sacre Coeur can't possibly be there in real life.
|
yes it does look weird but it looks so beautiful in the book, how come the building is La madeleine as this is in a completely different arrondissement ?
|
It's called creativity.
I don't like the picture. |
LAinCA ....... check this link out and find your street from there...... http://www.panoramio.com/photo/12776614 ...... I remembered seeing this view quite a few years back but forget the name of the street.
|
That doesn't even look like a photo but an illustration, it's just fake to evoke images of Paris. Sacre Coeur is on a hill, I don't have that book but there are several streets with stairs in Montmartre that are often photographed. Just go there and look around and find a photo op you like.

I was hoping that the writer of Fordor book will get this message and answer me, LOL, I thought this is real, I visited the Sacre Coeur last year but it was first time and did not see such street, took many beautiful pics, but this picture if it's real it's a real magic

LAinCA .......... It is real ! What is throwing some of you off the photo is that the building you think you recognise is NOT Madeleine. It is the Church of Notre Dame de Lorette which has 4 columns not the 8 of Madeleine.
The photo was taken at the corner of Rue Lafitte and Boulevard Haussmann ( the 9th arrondissement). Google Rue Lafitte on Maps and mark the location ........ and enjoy taking your own photo. |
I don't think that is la Madeleine at the end of the street. I think it is l'Église Notre-Dame de Lorette on rue de Chateaudun. Not sure how photographer got the background to be visible though. Probably still a 'trick'. Here is the same photo/view:

...... Sorry that should be Rue Laffitte.
|
If you go to a Google map and do the 'street view' you can just barely see that background (from blvd Haussmann) - - the closer you get the more prominence the church takes and the background becomes less visible. You will need a mightly zoom to replicate that photo.

Goldwaynn, thanks so much, I will for sure go there, I have Nikon D700 with some expensive lenses (telepoto ...) I was hoping to take such pic last year but did not find the street, I will do it this time, leaving in less than 10 days, so excited, I'm planning to go there very early on a weekend day so I can avoid taking pics of cars and people :)

Travelnu, that's a nice pic you've posted, it seems that it was taken late in the day, not sure why I liked it, it kind of so majestic
