Picnic tips?

I am very excited about prospect of picnicking in Rome and Paris when husband and I go at the end of october, beginning of November. We've had some very memorable/romantic trip moments while picnicking -- so i ask you experienced Fodorites for tips for picnics? Where in Paris and Rome should be go for food and where are good places for picnics? What picnic supplies should we take with us (corkscrew? blanket or something to sit on) and what to buy there.

In other words, I am lookign for the ultimate picnic and need your help.

In the St Germain area of Paris pick up food supplies fom the lovely Rue de Buci Market & then head off to the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens for a picnic - definitely bring a corkscrew (or buy one over there if you wish).

I can just see us sitting in the wet grass knawing on a salami and drinking chianti in San G. Do the stores where you buy your supplies supply the plastic glasses for wine individually or do you have to buy a package and carry them with you????
