Agree spending extra money for the train tix makes no sense, unless you are afraid to drive in Paris. City locations avoid the extra fee for train station pickups, so we picked up a car near our hotel through Avis(but I think most agencies are fine)We found the manual 'midsize' citroen ok for 5

Hi Pat; Do not be afraid of Auto Europe. When you rent a car from them, you do get charged up front. But if you then find a better price at a latter date, they return your initial payment and charge you for the new cost. Look, the BBB has ratings from A+ to F. Auto europe's rating is A. With Auto Europe recently, on the 10th of this month, I booked four tickets to Zagreb from Boston. My CC was charged $992 for each ticket, that I thought was a great price on Swiss Air. On the 12th, our friends had two problems. A son with health problems and worse, a lost job. That day, the 12th, we both cancelled our tickets with NO cancellation charges. While you only get 24 hours of the first working day after booking, we did luck out and all money was returned. I have always liked Auto Europe. As a previous post said, AE is a broker and all the major car companise will be viewed to give you a price. Now, that does't mean you can't look at carrentals.com or novacarehire.com to fing a better price. Be advised, that AE will negotiate. ENJOY Iris

AutoEurope never charges me upfront for the full rental. I pay a third upon booking and two-thirds upon picking up the car. If there is any change in the price between the time I book and the time I turn in the car, they have always refunded me the difference.
