Pick Which Hotel for Venice

We narrowed our choices down to Duodo Palace in San Marco or Locanda Ca' Gottardi in Cannaregio. Price for a standard double in October being the same ($225 a night), which would you choose? Both hotels seem to have decent reviews and are both relatively new.

Hi
if no one here knows the hotels, have you tried tripadvisor.com?
they have guest reviews on many hotels, but perhaps these places are too new.
How did you hear of them?

They both have good reviews on tripadvisor.

I thought maybe one area is better than the other since I can't really find anything about the hotels to help with the decision.

I'm not sure if it's good to find a cheap rate at a more expensive hotel (in their least expensive room) or to stay at a different hotel and pay the normal rate for their cheapest room.
Most of Duodo's rates are much higher than this (lots of websites don't even show the standard rooms) while Gottardi's are mostly all in the same range.

Just FYI.. I went with Ca'Gottardi. I think the other location may be better, but the Gottardi has only non-smoking rooms. The other hotel only has ten out of 38 rooms that are non-smoking, and there was no way to reserve one through the online reservation system. I'm very sensitive to smoke so that settled it.

Now for the Rome hotel...
