I think that it has to be the rental agency specified since the contract will include the address of the rental agency and it would not be changed at the last minute. It's the car that is not guaranteed, the rental is for a class of cars not a specific model.

Gretchen - after talking with a rep from AutoEurope there was some reason I can't recall that made us decide to book directly with Hertz. Their quote clearly notes the various fees and taxes mentioned by another poster. We could only find an automatic online at CDG so asked when we called and the only other place we could pick one up was Caen, but with Hertz the cost was significantly more for not picking up and dropping off at the same place, plus we would have the cost of the rail tickets. Avoiding CDG would make it worth the cost to me but I'm not the driver!
