Piazza Armerina to (and from) Agrigento
Getting between Piazza Armerina and Agrigento by public transportation requires travel by bus with a connection in either Caltanissetta or Gela.
Finding this information has been a major undertaking, but I think I've finally found the bus schedules between Piazza Armerina and Gela (45 kms.), as well as between Piazza Armerina and Caltanissetta (49 kms.):
www.astraautolinee.it
http://nuke.astraautolinee.it/...e/en-US/Default.aspx
Astra evidently replaces SAIS Autolinee between Piazza Armerina and Gela, which had provided services up to several years ago.
From Gela, there is onward transportation to and from Agrigento (78 kms.) on
www.autolineesal.it (NO SERVICE ON SUNDAYS)
From Caltanissetta, there is much more frequent onward transportation to and from Agrigento (60 kms.) on
www.saistrasporti.it (including on Sundays)
If you schedule carefully, you can limit your connection in either Gela or Caltanissetta to a reasonable time (assuming that you have no interest stopping in either city). As you can see from the distances above, connecting in Caltanissetta results in a slightly shorter trip (as well as the possibility of better connections, plus service on Sundays).
You can also go directly from Piazza Armerina to/from Palermo on
www.saisautolinee.it;
from Piazza Armerina to/from Catania (and the Catania airport) on
www.interbus.it;
and from Piazza Armerina to/from Siracusa on
www.aziendasicilianatrasporti.it
