Photos from our trip to Paris, Provence and the Côte d'Azur pictures
One of these days I'll finish the trip report describing our 3-week trip (May 16 - June 7) to Paris, Provence and the Côte d'Azur, but for now I thought some might be interested in an edited (and captioned) sample of photos of our trip. In each location we were in weekly rentals - an apartment (in the Palais Royal in Paris), a house (in the center of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in Provence), and a condo (St. Jean Cap Ferrat on the Côte d'Azur). We had fabulous weather for the most part, the sights and food and wine were wonderful, and we long to go back.

Oh Sam, your photos are magnificent! They should be in brochures to promote the areas. I am going to keep the url handy whenever I need a beautiful France pick me up. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you. They are beautiful. And since I work 6-7 days a week, so I can travel. They certainly perked me up after work today. Thanks again.
|
Really nice photos! Thank you for sharing them.
|
Thanks for the compliments! I loved taking the photos and now spend far too much time looking at them, reliving our memories. But maybe that's a good thing? At least until our next trip (June 2009 - Baltics and St. Petersburg).

Yes, very nice photo's and Thank you for sharing.
It brings back memories and makes me excited all over again about my upcoming trip in September. Where is your next trip going to be? |
Your pictures taken in Provence are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them. I have not been to the Cote d'Azur, but your pictures make it look very tempting.
|
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures. Now I'm even more excited about my upcoming trip to Nice in September.

thanks Sam, you revived so many memories for me.

I'm gratified that you have enjoyed my photos - particularly from those of you who are experienced travelers (and slow-travelers).
After reading some of the other threads (about people having gone to Paris or Tuscany or Provence or Prague 20+ times), I feel very limited in my travels. Of course I started my globetrotting over 50 years go (as a small child, thank you very much!) with my parents and sister when Dad was stationed in Japan, so even though my current travels are fairly limited, they are pretty extensive compared to 90 to 95 percent of the population? Absolutely beautiful. I see they have painted a fresh, new scene on the garage door in Roussillon - it was quite faded when I visited in 2003.
|
I can't find your trip report. I think you photos are making me decide to visit the area again. Do you mind sharing the url for your Cote D'Azur apartment?

SeaUrchin -
Unfortunately I still haven't finished my trip report - I tend to be longwinded (DW says verbose!) so I have a ways to go yet. I can give you the URL for our condo/apartment in St. Jean Cap Ferrat (http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p14333), although I have mixed feelings about the property. If you can handle being some distance from the closest epicerie/boulangerie and restaurants, and you can be happy with road noise (outside the bedroom windows), the property itself wasn't too bad (cost 1500 euros/week). However, the property agent was among the worst I've dealt with - inattentive and bored with her renters would be an apt description? Let me know if you have specific questions. Sam |
Beautiful photos and looks like a wonderful trip! What a perfect time to travel. Thanks for sharing.

It seems like I looked at that rental online recently, maybe you had posted it before. When I stayed in Cap Ferrat I was on the hillside beneath V. Rothschild, facing the Villa Kerylos and we had a trek down to the village too. I am wondering where your apt is in relation to our place, ours was a nice area but it looked like the Rothschild Villa was going to topple over on us at any minute, the road beneath it was crumbling!

artsnletter, yes, I've seen it with three different faces through the years.

SeaUrchin -
I'm pretty sure that our apartment is further out on the cape than yours was. As we walked out the door of our building, we had to go "toward" Villefranche sur Mer and Beaulieu sur Mer to get to Villa Ephrussi Rothschild, whereas I understand that yours was "directly below" the villa? Our apartment was perhaps 600-700 meters from the villa. Hope the property manager for your apartment was more responsive than ours. Sam |
Sam we are going toProvence and Nice in September. More excited than ever after your wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful photos, especially the still life ones. Thanks so much for sharing!

Great photography. the paella
dish made me hungry - it's my favorite - name of restaurant and town it was in ? What is Villa Kerylos, obviously Greek, but ancient Greek history? or a current occupant ? Beautiful place. Thanks. I'm looking even more forward to my trip in October. |
