Photos from Capri and Naples
Hi everyone -
We are just back from a fabulous 12-day trip to Capri, Positano and Naples. Mr_go and I promise a trip report very soon, but in the meantime we have begun posting some of our photos. Capri and Naples are up now, and we hope to post some more from Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast by this weekend. http://community.webshots.com/user/go_family |
They're beautiful ~ looking forward to the others, and your trip report.

Hi ms
In a couple of weeks we leave Savona on a cruise which stops in Naples. The boat has 2 excursions (each 5 hours). One to Pompei and one to Capri. The Capri one involves a hydrofoil. Condisering that 4 or 5 hours is not nearly enough time to see either place, and if you had to decide between them - which would you do?? Spend 4 hours at Pompei or Capri? Thanks. shrink |
You pictures are simply stunning! I spent some time looking through some of your shots from other places as well!! Looks like you had a lovely time and am looking forward to the trip report and more pics!! Thanks for sharing

Viewed your beautiful pics, they came very crisp. Looking forward to more ,that is very considerate sharing with us. THANK YOU!

They ARE great! I love them.

Woderfull pictures very professional .
Shrink you would I would think that you would have more time in Capri but they are very different sites History or a very beautiful town. |
Thanks, everyone! I'm working on photos Pompeii right now. The Amalfi Coast will be tough. I think we have about 200 photos just of Positano, including about 25-30 from the terrace of our apartment.
Shrink - tough call, but with four-five hours I think I'd opt for Pompeii. It is truly unique, and I think you will be able to see quite a bit in the time you have. But it will be hot, so be prepared. I liked Capri a lot, but the towns get very crowded during the day. Some of my favorite parts were the walks that are a bit off the beaten path, and it will be difficult to see much in four hours - particularly since I hear the lines for the funicular can be long in the summer (we didn't really experience that). Enjoy! |
Your photos are just fabulous, ms go. I look forward to your posting the rest of them. Your camera is..... I'm in the market for a digital at this time but all these options are making it more difficult to decide.

Love your kitties - Rudy looks like a ham!
Yes, what IS your camera? I'm jealous of your travels!! Thanks so much for sharing. Where was that first picture of Capri taken from (with the urns)? |
OH my - you made Naples look absolutely gorgeous! Just once, I'd like to be there when it's sunny out.
You've got an amazing eye! |
Thanks, again.
Pompeii and Sorrento are now online, as well, including one shot that some of you will recognize: the tabacchi and Gabriella's from the Sorrento webcam! We used two digital cameras -- a pretty old 2mp Canon S100 and a newer 4mp Canon A80. I have a wide-angle kit for the A80, which was useful at times on this trip. celticdreams - we were very lucky with the weather, with only one day of rain (Ravello, unfortunately). Naples was pretty warm, but we were thankful for the sunny skies. wanderer - the first picture of Capri is in the piazza right where you get off the funicular in Capri town (looking toward Anacapri). Unfortunately Rudy is no longer with us; she loved that perch up on the wall in our old (15 years ago) loft apartment. |
For anyone who needs an Amalfi Coast fix, we've finished posting photos now:

ms go: What's the name of the hotel in the 1st pic of Positano, Buca di Bacco? We're confirmed at Hotel Palazzo Murat; any pics of it? Thought staying right on beach would be noisy...We're going in Sept/Oct 05! Love your pics! My hubby has a Sony F737 digital 2 yrs old and loves it. Lens not interchangeable tho and your mention of wideangle got me thinking...
|
Katerbug, the hotel in the first Positano picture is Covo di Saraceni. Buca di Bacco would probably be around the beach level toward the right of the sixth picture. We passed Palazzo Murat a few times; it is just off the walkway on the way to Piazza Mulini. No pictures, but the courtyard looked nice.

More great stuff from the traveling Go family. Your Positano shots are fabulous---I have stolen 2 of them.
