Photos available from May trip to Lucerne, Lake Como, Tuscany, and Umbria

I posted my journal here a month ago. Now I have photographs to accompany the report. Please visit my website at www.travelswithdiane.com/Trip2006Page1.html

There's narrative on the first several pages--afterwards, it's mostly photographs. I haven't checked it thorough, so let me know if any links aren't working. Thanks.

Luv, this is great! I looked at the Swiss part as I've been to Switzerland only, great photos!

And that lonely bike - I remember in Zermatt it seemed weird people just leave their bikes in the streets not chained to anything!

Thanks for the nice comments.

I didn't mention in my site that I'm now learning to really use my iPod. I've figured out how to upload my photos to it and have the iPod play music while the slideshow is going. How cool is that!

Diane - thanks for this.

Enjoyed the Lake Como section in particular as it brought back happy memories.

OMG, these are unreal!! And the food pics are a great idea. You should apply for a job as a photographer for postcards.

I've been to Lucerne so I know how beautiful that is, but Villa Cipressi looks like the way I would imagine heaven. All the other pics are great too.

Now I'm depressed because I'm not there.

Hey, I know, it's time to plan another trip!!

Hey, LoveItaly, are you there?? Come over here and look at these great pics!!

She'll be popping in soon. ;-)

Diane - Wonderful photos!!! I'm guessing you're using a DSLR. As I'm struggling with which camera to purchase I would love to know what kind of camera you use and if I may ask, how much photoshop editing you did?

We're including Tuscany on our next trip and I was planning on basing in Montalcino for several nights, however your photos of Pienza are causing me to rethink this!!

Thanks for sharing.

P_M: Your post made me laugh. I do sell postcards to a hotel--the photos are of the hotel. Someday when I'm not in my "real" job, I'm going to seriously concentrate on photography to generate supplemental income. It's really hard to sell photography.

Cherylforeurope: I use a Canon PowerShot G6. Wonderful quality. Not an SLR, and not tiny, but something that fits in my purse. I saturate the colors a bit and crop the shots if they need it. In one photo, a person was in the way and I just erased her right out of there.

Your photos and narrative are just wonderful! I've been to many of the places you were and have some very similar photos! It was fun to see yours. One in particular is from Lake Como and it is wisteria framing the lake and a town across the lake. I have almost this exact photo hanging in my bathroom! Your tour of Tuscany and Umbria sounded very fun. I can't wait to go back to do some more exploring. Thanks for sharing!

Great photos! Thoroughly enjoyed your journal. I have bookmarked it for future reference.

And you went to one of my favourite restaurants - Taverna Grappolo Blu in Montalcino - I was there just a few weeks ago!

Thank you for sharing with us!

Just one more thing, could you tell me what kind of photographic equipment did you use to take those wonderful photos on your website?

Thanks again, all, for the nice comments. It just might go to my head (LOL).

For this trip and England 2005 I used a Canon PowerShot G6, my first digital. Wonderful camera for not being an SLR. Can be set to manual, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet, so what you're seeing is on the automatic settings. Great battery life and the shutter lag is minimal.

Hi LoveItaly,

Along with that glass of wine, I recommend you also have some classical Italian music playing in the background. Works like a charm!

Now I have to find some of P_M's photos.
