Photographs - Cruise - Romania to Russia
I have placed on line photographs taken on a cruise on MS Shevchenko from Constanta in Romania to St Petersburg in Russia. Also some photos from Bucharest.

Great photos. thanks a lot. some of the photos from Bucharest reminded me of our trip to Romania several years ago although we didn't visit Bucharest. Did you also go to the Maramures area? Some things reminded me of our experiences there.
Now, the boat trip and Russia. what was your favorite place or experience, and conversely, what left you cold? I'd like some honest opinions because this is on my to do list someday. Thanks.

I was only in Romania for a day or so, just Bucharest and then the train to Constanta.
I have been on a number of river cruises in Russia and I prefer the route from Moscow to Rostov on Don. The route from St Petersburg to Moscow is too heavely travelled. At all the stops you will have 2 or 3 ships in port. When we were in St Petersburg there were 16 ships at the river port

Looks like quite a comprehensive and entertaining trip.
I believe the ship you were on, the Schevchenko, is the same one that was docked in Odesa for years as a hotel ship. They finally got tired of paying hotel/port taxes (or something) and shipped out a couple years ago. I once had a reservation to stay there, but had to cancel, and never got to see it up close. I find it interesting that it became a tour ship (I'm reasonably sure it's the same one).
Yalta appears to be a bit cold and blustery, but their McDonald's is pretty good (it's constantly crowded during summer). I always find it ironic (and I think amusing) to see the big old statue of Lenin (in Lenin Park) looking, some say frowning , directly at the McDonald's only 50 meters or so away. Unfortunately, they're far enough apart it does not lend itself to an easy photgraph.

It is the same ship. It has been refurbished and is the same standard as most of the tour ships. It is of Ukaine registry and operated by Orthodox Cruise Line of Russia. The ship is based in Kiev.
This year they ran a trip from Kiev to Constanta and are running trips from Contanta to St Petersburg, 21 days, and trips from St Petersburg to Constanta, 22 days, with stops in the Ukraine.
Next year they only plan to run the ship on the Dneiper in Ukraine.
It is mostly German, French and Japanese tour companies that book the ship.
The trip that we did was in May and the weather was cool.
