Photographic film compatibile with US film?

Is it still accurate to believe that US and French/European camera film are different? I have a new 35mm camera, and I'm wondering if I need to stock up on US film. I'll be in France for 8 months ..

Thanks.

You can buy film everywhere in Europe for your 35mm camera, but it will be much more expensive than buying it here.

Hi Genesea,
As far as I know, 35 mm film (24 x 36)has always been universal.
Today's price at FNAC (one of France's large video/audio department stores):
3 rolls of Kodak T-Max 100 iso (24 exp.) - 8.50 Euro
2 rolls of Kodak Gold 100 iso (24 exp.) - 8.99 Euro
They also have generic brands and brands like Konica that are cheaper.
Bon voyage!
