Plus taxes. While this is good info to share, I believe that similar fare sales on similar routes have been offered repeatedly for February and March travel during the past eight weeks.

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi Z,

For PHL/CDG in March, it comes to $575 via IAD.

Not so terrific.

www.mobissimo has a 1-stop on the same dates for $417.

Got a similar e-mail from American tonight... various fares between $149 and 231 (each way before taxes)... in the e-mail itself (though they have a complete travel by March 2). Refers you to more complete listing on aa.com where the PHL-ZRH fare is matched (well, $1 higher actually), and there are dozens more in the same general range (some city pairs in the upper $200's or even lower $300s (SLC-DUB is $320, for example).

If they're the best you can find and they match a need you have, then go for them.

I'm glad you posted this because it seems to be "that sale" a lot of people have been hoping would happen. Of course, it isn't for the TIME when most of them wsere hoping it would happen, but then again, a lot of people never listen.

Intrepid, 'that sale' that many of us are hoping for is the difference between taking our vacations or staying home. Summer fare sales may happen or they may not. You don't know any better than the rest of us and if you did then you would be called 'Psychic' not 'Intrepid'!!!!!

I agree that this is not "that>/U> sale" - - it may or may not be the last sale before "that sale" actually comes along.

And even when it does come along, it will be a partial teaser "stick-their-noses-out-of-the-sand" sale - - and it will focus on Apr 1 up to? through? Memorial Day weekend. Followed by one or more partial test-the-waters sales. they won't give away the farm, whole cloth without first sending out some scouting parties... to find out how many eager beavers will jump at a discount of x or y or z.

Keep your powder dry... er... maybe...

Nope. SUMMER sale. That's June, July, and August to those of you in the Northern Hemisphere who are fuzzy on calendar issues.....

My point is that THIS is not "That sale" (the beginning of actuall summer sale fares, rare as hen's teeth though they may be). This sale is (among) the last of the WINTER sale fares; next will come the spring sale fares (which might in some cases overlap some early summer sale fares - - indeed, for kids getting out of college, travel from early-mid-May through June 1 will be considered "summer vacation travel", even though the calendar will insist that it is still spring until summer solstice).

Those holding their breaths for deeply discounted fares AFTER June 1 have a while to wait... though teasers, (most likely in extremely limited quantities) can appear (sometimes, literally for less than a day's duration), any time... and when you are at greatest risk to blink and miss them.

The airlines will use slightly reduced summer fares, as a test first... and see how fast the fish snap at them, to gauge what is the size of the "searching for the best bargain fares, and hoping to jump when in, only when they dangle the right price in front of me" market.
