Phantom of the Opera?

Never saw Phantom when it was near me in the US. Would you recommend it for when we go to London in September?

I haven't seen the Phantom of the Opera in London but other plays I have seen have been wonderful productions. If you're interested in seeing it, why not go for it? Theatre-going in London is a great experience. Perhaps you could even snag half-price tickets on the day of the show.

Should you see Phantom when in London? ABSOLUTELY! I've seen it twice in London and twice here in the States and I'd see it again whenever the opportunity presents itself. In my estimation it is truly one of the most dramatic, memorable presentations ever. The theater is small so lends an air of intimacy regardless of where you sit. We got tickets at the half price booth at Leicester Square when there in March. Great seats for something like $20.

I have read/heard that it can be very difficult to get tickets from the 1/2 price booth for popular shows. Is Phantom a show that has good tickets at the 1/2 price booth?

Without a doubt you must see the show. It is so wonderfully staged. I've seen it both in London and in Chicago and loved it both times, even more the first time when it was a new experience for me.

Even without getting tickets at the 1/2 price the show is probably a lot cheaper to see in London than the comparable production at The Music Box on Broadway...go for it!

You might be able to get reasonbaly proced tickets from lastminute.com.

This site shows what's on sale at the TKTS (half price) booth for today; Phantom is listed but not available at the moment.

I myself am not an Andrew Lloyd Weber fan, but obviously lots of people are. Still, the show's been on for *years* and I think you can get half price seats often.

We saw the show in London and I thought it was very good. My wife had seen several different productions. She'd mentioned that liked others she'd seen a bit better, mostly due to a less established cast. She felt the London cast wasn't quite as .. well, enthusiastic, for lack of a better word, but still enjoyed the show quite a lot as well.

Yes! Run, don't walk to the 1/2 price ticket booth.
IMHO - you should see as many musicals/dramas as you can comfortably work in while in London and don't forget the Matinees! Doubles your opportunity.

What do you mean "was" in the US? It's in San Francisco now!

We saw the Phantom in London in June. My fourth time(twice on Broadway) and I loved it. First theater experience for my 14 year old son and he enjoyed it as well (second act more than the first). Ate at a great Indian restaurant right across the street before the show. Ordered our tickes on-line through good ol' Ticketmaster before we left...they were waiting at the box office.

We just came back from London and found no problem getting theatre tickets at the Leicester Sq location. Theatre there is worth every "pound"-
I happen to love Phantom-enjoy!!
