PEUGOT BUY BACK PROGRAM
 

I will be in Europe next summer for 6+ weeks. I go every year however this year Ive decided to finally attempt to drive. Anyways, I have looked into car rentals which for an automatic and insurance especially in Italy seem VERY expensive. I have come across the "Peugot Buy Back Program" basically a lease from Peugot.

Has anyone heard of this and what has your experience been??

From what I was told this includes a brand new direct from factory Peugot, ALL insurance and ZERO deductibles, ALL taxes, registration, unlimited mileage, 24/7 roadside assistance, you are covered all over europe and even Morrocco and some other places I cant quite remember right now. So I was quoted for a 307 for 45 days $1798!! Seems like a steal and probably my best bet but I just want to hear from someone who has done this before.....Any info would be great!

We just leased a Renault Grand Scenic this November. We traveled with our three teens and drove from Milan south to Positano,across the interior and up to Venice than on to Switzerland and back to the drop off point (airport) in Milan. We really liked the car and felt well taken care of by the company. We had a fellow meet us at 7:30 am on a Sunday and he had even filled the tank for us the day before as all the stations were closed
The car was great and got good gas mileage. The price was better than a rental even though we only ahad it for sixteen days. We did have a pickup and dropoff fee of 200 dollars but it was worth it.
I have heard similar things about Peugot but have only done this through Renault. I would definitely do it again.

Both Peugeot and Renault do this. If you are going for 6 weeks, try to do a round trip that starts in France and ends in France. Then you do not have to pay pickup and dropoff fees. Make sure you lease a diesel--as long as you travel more than 3000 miles it will be worth the extra cost up front. For a Peugeot you might want to do it through Autoeurope. I've leased Peugeots and Renaults. For the smaller cars I preferred the Renault Clio to the Peugeot 206, and the latter was more expensive when it came with AC.

We also highly recommend the buy-back program; have used Renault's a couple of times.

I'm not sure the diesel recommendation is still current - this week in our travels it appeared diesel is comparable or higher-priced than ordinary gas/petrol. Probably best to check a little closer before you go as fuel prices are volatile.

We have leased (buy-back) from Renault twice, have been very pleased with the car, the service, and the fact that all insurance -- everything -- is included in the price. Even picking up in one country and returning to another, it's still quite a deal!
