9/5 - arrive into Rome AM

9/6 - 9/10 Italy (Rome 1 day, Florence 2days, Venice 2 days)

9/11 Austria (Viena 2 days)

9/13 Czech Republic (Prague 2 days) Prague to Paris is the tough part because I think it takes about 10hrs by train.

9/15 France (Paris 2 days)

9/16 Netherlands (Amsterdam 2 days)

9/19 Leave

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Places to stay 30 -60 euros a day, Euro rail, etc..."

Here's one that I started a long thread with a few years ago:

You tell a friend or co-worker you're going on vacation, they ask where to, you answer " .... (somewhere in Europe)"

Their response:

"IT MUST BE NICE ..."

This one drives me crazy. It inevitably comes out of the mouths of people who have 3 gas-guzzling SUVs in their driveway, 6 extra-large flat screen TVs and every other gadget known to man in their house, spend thousands of dollars per year supporting their cigarette and/or alcohol habits, etc., but I must be the "lucky" one who can afford a nice vacation.

Makes me nuts!

I forgot one, but an example has just appeared. The use of the word "gypsy" when what the poster means is "thief".

The strangely worded, grammar-challenged, misspelled words packed post delivered in a hyperventilated style. (e.g., my brother wants to see the leabing tower and not cuz we have any reason too LOL but you know how being from that part of the country **:!@ he has to always give advise.But if you really like food LIKE I DO and my parents were alays against this….)

Some folks seemed to have mastered the art of composing a glorious mess.

I am not suggesting people carefully craft sentences; an internet forum is not the place for that. I make mistakes too. I just feel that it is very hard to follow some of those posts. It is difficult to come up with a response when you can’t figure out what someone is saying.

Paragraphs that never end drive me away from reading a post. I have seen some trip reports that simply run on without a paragraph break for the entire post.

My Pet peeve is that people think those passengers using FF miles are getting something free from the airlines and should be treated like the parasites they are. Most of my FF miles come from my credit card, these miles are a commodity that are purchased by the banks to the benefit of the airlines.

What would happen to the airlines bottom line if they couldn't sell miles, most of which are never used for travel on an airline.

Don't you think life is too short to be upset about most things?

The expression "cute" applied to anything other than babies!

The "in" word is "boutique". Boutique bars, boutique hotels, boutique tours, boutique restaurants, boutique resorts etc. A boutique used to be a place sheilas bought clothes. Eeeenough with the "boutique" word 8}

A forum pet peeve of mine is the imaginative use of spelling applied to Italian place names. Why can people spell Johannesburg, Guadalajara and Caribbean, but not Siena or Trastevere? How can they be staying in a hotel in a place that they can't spell? How did they find it?

Another is the authoritative pronouncements on pronunciations of Italian words that are completely wrong. Someone recently gave the name of a restaurant in Florence, instructing us that the word "due" was pronounced duo. Why say that if you don't really know?

A pet peeve in life is people who don't get the importance of my pet peeves.

And why can't people who don't drink enjoy Italy? Why is drinking so important? Are people who don't drink banned from all wine producing areas around the world, or just Italy? Can we go to France and Northern California?

People who drink and think that everyone else should are on my list of pet peeves.

Posters who ask advice from one specific person.

If I see that I guess they are not interested in what others have to say.

Tuscam, I think you are being a little too geocentric. I always see people misspell names of places. A least once a month I see Manhatten and Grenada (the town in Spain.)

I am not excusing the behavior, just noting it happens all over.

Considering how awful that question is, I understand it coming from a newbe. However, I find it amazing that well-traveled folks would tell others "Don't bother. It's not worth it." about a place. If we can't know if it IS worth it for you, how can we be so adamant that it's NOT worth it?
