Pescara and surrounding area?

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me about Pescara, Italy? Is it a place worth visiting? We're looking to go somewhere we haven't been yet. We are explorers, observers, and generally almost anything new makes us happy. We'll be in europe in early November and have a 4-day open spot. Transportation to Pescara will be easy for us if we decide that it is the place we want to go.

Would love to hear your thoughts, experiences and suggestions regarding this part of Italy.

Hello kelly girl,

I was in Pescara many times, and i can answer some of your questions.
Pescara is located in the Abruzzi region, which is quite beautiful with majestic mountains peaks, luscious green forests, waterfall and of course the beautiful Adriatic sea.
Pescara is a modern city, you will not find old ruins ,because being an important port, the city was heavily destroyed during WW2.
The regions is off the tourists path, and the food in the Abruzzi is to die for!!:)
From Pescara you could take day trip to the Marche region, which is close .
If you do, stop at the small city of Fermo. The town is older than Rome, and was founded by the Sabines. There you can find pre-Roman walls and Roman ruinsand also a beautiful old 13 century gothic Cathedral.
If you go in november, bring warm clothes also.
Enjoy the Abruzzi,
Ciao,
kismet

You also might want to check out Chieti, a small, old hill town that's 30(?) minutes east of Pescara. I'm not aware of any special tourist attractions in Chieti, though I know there are ruins there as it is a very old town.

You might also be interested in Franco Villa, a resort community on the adriatic. Not sure if there will be much activity in Franco Villa in November.

Buona fortuna,
Kaneohe

Kellygirl and everyone else,

Did you find a hotel in Pescara that you enjoyed? I'm planning to visit Pescara in June and am looking for a hotel. Any restaurants that you would recommend?

Thanks,
