Perugia: What are your Favorite things to do there?
 

I have traveled through Perugia briefly and planning another trip in 2 months. What did fellow Fodorites like to do there?<BR><BR>

Just sit outside a bar on the Corso Vannucci sipping 'un caffe freddo' and watch people go by.

Did you see the previous post about the Chocolate Festival in Perugia? If you're there in October, maybe you could do that!<BR><BR> Otherwise, I'd suggest taking a tour of the Baci factory. Have not done this myself, but I have a couple of friends who happily did it. Free Baci for everyone! :)

This is amazing! We just decided today to attend the Umbria Jazz Festival next year and I just started researching Perugia. I am eager to know everything!

Where and when, will the jazz festival be Red? I'd be interested in that also.

Re Castello dell'Oscano <BR>This is an excellent hotel with a great restaurant - I have eaten there many times and really enjoyed my meal.<BR>It is a little bit far out however and if you are really keen on the Umbrian Jazz festival and want to "feel" the atmosphere I would advise you stay in the centre of Perugia during your stay.<BR>I live in Perugia by the way.

Helen,<BR>I would appreciate any information about the Jazz Festival and Perugia. We thought about traveling there by train and then picking up a rental car for day trips. Is the town just one big festival? Do you recommend a hotel?

Hi Rod<BR>Perugia is in festival mood from about 12.00 - live music all day various locations in the centre.<BR>http://www.italywithus.biz/ezine/april_sept2001/June_2001.htm<BR><BR>I like the Hotel Fortuna in the centre - if you book early you may get one of their rooms with a view of the countryside.<BR>http://perugia.italy.allwebhotels.com/hotel.phtml/5652/intl/en<BR><BR>Parking is a pain in the center of Umbria. Depends where you want to visit, there are plenty of places you can reach by bus and some by train.

Castello dell'Oscano is beautiful; rather expensive but the restaurant is wonderful. Was searching forever for history on it, 'til we found out the "castle" was built by a rich American in the early 1900's...my favorite thing to do near Perugia is the short drive to Deruta to shop for ceramics!<BR>Ciao<BR>Sia

Just wandering the medieval back streets of Perugia is a delight. Visiting my favourite small building in Italy: the Chapel of San Bernardino and the beautiful circular Tempio.

Well what I would like to do in Perugia this Octoer is go to the Eurochocolate Festival which is going to be held there in the last two weeks. If you're going to be there are the time I suggest to check it out as it looks very very yummy!<BR><BR>Happy tavels and good luck!<BR><BR>Louisa

This may be stating the obvious, but there is a great museum of Umbrian art in Perugia, if you like that sort of thing.
