Perugia on a Sunday

Planning a trip to Umbria, and figuring out what to do on a Sunday.
Would Perugia be a good place to visit on a Sunday?
I figured since it is a larger city, it may actually be easier to visit on a weekend than a weekday.
Appreciate your advise.

All the shops will be closed on Sunday. Many on Monday also. Visit Assisi instead.

I'm a culture vulture and not a shopper, so I wouldn't be fazed by closed stores. Closed museums on the other hand!

Check museum opening hours at the link below. Most are open Sunday:

The cathedral, of course, will be closed to tourists during masses, but is open otherwise.

If the Collegio del Cambio is a priority, note that is only open until 1pm on Sundays.

Shops are not of interest, enjoying the towns and the culture is.
Also trying to minimize the traffic, crowds, and difficult parking.

You will not see a "normal" Perugia on Sunday. We were there on a Monday once & things were kinda dead. When shops close, they will often pull louvered aluminum shutters over their pretty storefronts and the shutters might be covered with graffiti. We were in Lucca many years ago during lunch closing - and it was not a good experience walking around town then.

We spend 2 months vacationing in Europe every year, and we never visit large cities on Sundays (except Paris & Rome).

you won't have traffic or crowds but neither will you get a sense of a living small city. If it's just art, history, and some churches you're after you can have a full day.

Be aware that the town will be very quiet. What time of year?
