Personal experience information wanted on London apts or apt hotels

I would like your personal experince on aprt/flats or apt hotels in London. What places have you used and recommend based on that and which should I stay away from...going for 7 days.

Six of us (family females) rented a flat for a week through the London Connection; phone 011-44-81-888-393-9120; fax 011-44-81-801-393-3024. We were in Queens Gate Gardens in South Kensington, Glouster tube stop, and near the V&A and Harrods. The flat was lovely. The only problem we had was sharing out the hot water, but we had three young women who washed their hair a lot. We had three bedrooms and two baths. Also, we were met and returned to Gatwick as part of the service. It was fairly pricey, but we were sharing the cost which made it quite affordable.

My wife and I stayed a week in a small one-bedroom serviced apartment at the May Fayre House in the Shepherds Market neigborhood of Mayfair in October. The apartment was very nicely furnished, in great condition and fairly spacious. I would suggest to get a flat to the west of the complex, as it could be noisy on the east end (closer to traffic). I would go back again.

That was low season and it cost 1100 GBP for the week. I don't know what it is now. Their web site is www.mayfayrehouse.co.uk. You can contact them by e-mail for their rates.

Jill: we rented from
http://www.britishtravel.com/britishtravel/londonfl.htm
The Roland House Apartments were fine for us; not luxurious, but clean and well-appointed. Nice neighborhood, about 10min walk to the Gloucester Rd station (market along the way that was open late so we could get noshes on our way back from all-day sightseeing).

Hi! I was in London this summer, and my family and I stayed at a hotel called "The Tower-" it is actually a chain of Thistle Hotels, but this one in particular is called the tower. It is across the street from the Tower of London, and at night you will an incredible view of the Tower Bridge over Thames. It is a 4-star hotel and it has around 5 restaurants inside plus a Hagen Daas! The service there is excellent, and you can book almost anything with the concierge however it will be overpriced so I don't recommend it. I'm not sure about the price because I took an all-inclusive bus trip there. The rooms are very elegant and if get an American room, you will have access to 220V outlets-a big plus! The Tube is also very close-take it everywhere-taxis are expensive! Good luck!

I use Farnum and Christ -- web site www.farnum-christ.com, but mainly work from phone 1-800-366-2048. The main thing that is different about their flats is that they are privately owned, not in regular serviced buildings. As a result you have a true feeling of "home" with accesssories and amenities that are more personal. The flat I rent is in Covent Garden, perfect for theatre, but most of the ones they represent are in Sloane Square, Kensington, etc. All are very nice, not the cheapest places, but good value.
