Perillo Tours for Italy
Has anyone been on a Perillo Tour of Italy? We're thinking of going next fall and as first timers to Italy we're wondering which tour we should take. Any other input about Perillo would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Curious:My brother just got back from Perillo's "Week in Rome" tour.He enjoyed it very much.It had plenty of optional side-trips.They were very happy with the hotel but Perillo did not disclose the hotel name until about 2 weeks before the trip.He said he would consider them for future trips.Enjoy.

Do a search on this board and also on AOL, b/c I know I have read some negative reports that you might be interested in. Maybe the good ones outway the bad ones, but I suggest doing the search.

Perillo is Awesome! Worth every nickel. My first trip to Italy (Sicily & South) was a lifetime trip. Since then we've been planning our own trips and they only seem to be cheaper until you add in all the extra charges and costs (add-on faires, meals , wines with meals, tips, bus transportation transfers, tours). Forget about the formal affairs, no one could do that on their own. We really lucked out with the weather, in November is was Indian Summer like weather in the south and there was flooding in Venice. So pray for good weather in all those churches when you visit. The hotels are fabulous because they are located close to downtown. So go out enjoy the sites at night. I can't tell you how beautiful the glowing white Duomo in Florence is when you first approach it at night is. <BR>Tauck has on of the best reps but lots of $$$. For everything else you get what you pay for.

Message: Hi, I'm thinking of going on a Bickers/Fodorites tour of Central Europe later this year and want to get ratings from people who have been on this tour before. Thnx in advance, and how does this compare with Perillo/Tauck?

Sally, Rex is a regular here who does thips to Europe. He is not an organised tour company as Perillo is so there's not alot of information on the web with regards to his tours.

We took Perillo's 3 City (Venice, Florence, Rome, with side trips to Siena, Padua, and Pisa) tour in 1999 and it was fabulous. The hotels were really wonderful (this particular tour advertises "fine hotels" and it's true). There was a nice mix of touring with the group and free time.
