Perfect Week in Paris--Part III

Saturday

This was the morning for the pilgrimage to Place des Vosges and a coffee at Ma Burgoyne, after a pleasant walk around the Marais from the Rammbuteau Metro. Heading south from the square, we caught the #69 bus on Rue San Antoine--one of the best rides in the city: Hotel de Ville, Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Invilades, Champ de Mars. We got off on Rue Cler, sampled a few goodies and then walked past the Ecole Militaire to the Eiffel Tower.

Cabs are always lined up there, and we caught one to the Bagatelle Grardens in the Bois de Boulogne. This is a delightful spot--too early for the roses, but daffodils in bloom and peacocks strutting around. We treated ourselves to an excellent lunch in the restaurant, Les Jardins de Bagatelle. A perfect sunny afternoon. On the way back we caught the #244 bus.

That evening...a farewell dinner with our friends in their rented Montmarte apartment. They were nearing the end of a seven month stay they had dreamt about, having quit their jobs and sold their house in the states to finance the trip.

On the way back to the hotel, a final Coupe Amarena.

The next morning it was an easy cab ride to CDG and a long trip home.

[email protected]

Thanks Ron, great report. I missed seeing peacocks when I lunched at the
Bagatelle but maybe they were not there then as it was long ago.

Oh my gosh, I gained five pounds just reading about your trip! A copy of your posts will go into my Paris file for future reference, although I'm ready to head to the airport right now. A great trip report. Definitely my kind of trip.

Ron, you may want to consider consolidating your three posts into one thread so they won't get separated. Just copy segments two and three and append them to Part I.

Excellent report, RonZ - thanks so much!!

Betsy...I broke it up because it was too long to post in one chunk.

Ron. You solve that problem by posting the other parts of the report as replies to the initial piece - then they remain on the one post and are easier to read.
