Visited a couple of weeks ago. When did they get rid of all of Jim Morrison's graffiti, flowers etc. There was absolutely nothing at his grave except for two security guards. The French must not understand the legacy of Jim.

Curious:

Last week our family used Michael Osman as a tour guide through the Louvre, Paris Passages, Montmartre and even a round trip trip on the #14 Metro (driverless) for our 7 yo son. Michael was wonderful!!! I would recommend him for any Paris tour. BTW, he said that he does do Pere LaChaise Cemetery tours.

I was at jim Morrison's grave in June and his gravestone was covered with flowers, cigaretes and pharmaceuticals. There was also a guard on duty. Regards,
Vic Noir
Post Scriptum: Take a taxi to the top of the hill entrance, walk downhill. There is a flower shop across the street from the entrance that sells maps to the cemetary for a few euro.

Sounds like Betty has gotten some good advice. I dragged 3 kids around Pere LaChaise this August with the use of a map. We found it was more interesting just to walk around...targetting a half dozen graves to visit.

Re: Jim Morrison getting dug up in 2004, I read somewhere that he was recently granted a perpetual lease.

Hi we took the metro, then bought for 1 euro a map, and saw everything we wished to see. Simple. The cementery has like little lanes with names on them, impossible to miss.
Only thing: it is not flat, but the guide cannot help you on this either. Good luck. I would spend my money in other things like a great meal...
