Penzion Na Ostroveck in Cesky Krumlov
http://www.naostroveck.cz/
We were given a recommendation for this pension by another poster who was going to give me some further details but unfortunately I haven't heard from them. Does anyone know of this place? We love the idea of staying on the river and the price suits us but we are really worried about staying above a restaurant with the noise in the evening. We have had this problem before and it just wrecks us for the following day if we won't get a decent sleep. This is our other option: www.olsakovsky.cz - if anyone knows about this place we would appreciate feedback. Only two reviews on Trip Advisor but positive. Many thanks. |

I think you have answered your own question. If not getting sleep wrecks you for the following day, I wouldn't take a chance on room above a restaurant. It might be alright, but why take a chance?
Sorry I can't give you more specific information on either place. |
Although I have been to that restaurant I have not been to there to sleep. Cesky Krumlov is really quiet in the evenings, actually, but I do not recall at what time that place closes.
I can, however, recommend several places we've stayed at, all pensions (we don't do hotels or resort things). Our favourite is in the middle of the old town called Castle View. Gorgeous, lovely rooms BUT only about 20 feet from a restaurant. However, that place closes at 10 or 11 p.m. I am very picky about peace and quiet as I have insomnia and loved it there. Another good and fun place is Ve Vezi. It is located about 3-5 minutes' walk from the old town centre and is in a stone tower - very medieval and atmospheric. Kapr and Kadlec are good, too, with excellent locations. Skala is good (but on the main drag and about 7 minutes' walk to old town centre). The reason I like it is the breakfasts are ENORMOUS and delicious. Cesky Krumlov is delightful - you are sure to love it! |
I know the Hotel Ruze, historic, very nice in a renaissance style., on the river. Remember, no cars in town, so plan to carry your bags from parking near the main highway.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. travel2live2, I have checked all those places you mentioned from another post that you did and have them all marked on a map.I too love the look of the Castle View but the price is way beyond our budget if we are talking about the same place. That guy has a great site though with tons of information.
I will check out the Hotel Ruze but that also may be more than we want to spend. We will be in Europe for 6 weeks so have to budget carefully. Just too many good choices. |
Castle View is lovely - when we were there, we had our room three nights for the price of two which makes a big price difference. How many nights are you planning on staying? What time of the year? We had that deal in May.
|
We will have two nights, 27 and 28 April next year. We will need two rooms as we are two couples traveling together, after CK we split up and go our separate ways. We are thinking of having a "farewell" dinner in the restaurant everyone talks about, by the Chinese restaurant sign down stairs in the cavern.

We stayed at the Pension Anna, in January, it had a parking garage for our car and we thought it was a clean, good, value for our money. Would definately stay there again.
