Pensione Wildner in Venice

Has anyone stayed at the Pensione Wildner? I tried all the other hotels with water views in my price range $200-$250 a night and all were booked except the Wildner. Any experiences to share?

Good morning, AmyMad
Have stayed at the WILDNER, however am
familiar ith its location on the Riva.
If you can get a lagoon side view would
take it!!!a view of the Lagoon and
San Giorgio Maggiore, granted it is a
2 star hotel, but would well be worth it. Richard of LaGrange Park, Il.

I've been inside the Wildner but haven't stayed there overnight. The whole place is a bit dumpy, the rooms somewhat tired, and only a small number of rooms look out over the water. Be sure the rate you are quoted is indeed for a view over the Grand Canal. The hotel overall is certainly acceptable as a place to stay---just a bit down from the level you might want or expect in Venice. Good luck.

Friends stayed here years ago and complained of the noise, the trade -off for a view across the lagoon is a window facing a very busy area.

If you type Pensione Wildner AND Venice in the text search, you'll get some previous strings with comments as well as some other suggestions you may not have tried. Most people seem to be satisfied with this hotel although some have discribed it as a bit shabby. You could also try looking on tripadvsior.com for reviews. Room #16 is evidently one of the better ones with a water view.

A friend of mine stayed at the Marconi on the Grand Canal near the Rialto bridge & loved it (with a small balcony) but at that price, I would not book either the Wildner or the Marconi unless they will GUARANTEE a water view.
