Pensione Maria Luisa de Medici in Florence. Anyone stayed here?
Looking into this pensione. It's a one-star. We are looking for cheap but comfy places to stay and I saw reviews on Frommers and MSN that made it sound inviting, but I'm worried about the "one-star" status. Are one-star's just pretty basic? It's 67 Euro a night. Thanks.

For a 1 star even in Florence that sounds quite expensive, I think you will find some 2 stars at that price. The star rating does not relate much to comfort but to the number of various facilities, eg TV in room, air conditioning etc. You will find the 1 stars are pretty spartan.
For instance a 1 star in Italy is quite a different matter to a 1 star in Germany so the system is quite unreliable. Best to go on recommendations.

Stayed there about 5 years ago & I would give it more than 1 star & would stay again. It was very basic & the bathrooms were shared, but very clean. I would recommend. They brought breakfast to our room every morning.
