Pensione in Venice? and 1-800flyeurope problem

Two questions -
Is anyone having problems with the website for 1-800FlyEurope today? I have been trying all day and all they give me is a GREAT price but a note saying they are all sold out. Weird.
Secondly, I am rethinking our B&B in Venice and have emailed La Calcina for rates and availability. I haven't gotten a response and am used to hotels/B&B's responding in a day or two. Has anyone else had this experience? Should I call or email again?
Thanks!

Hi rb,

It often happens that great prices are sold out minutes after being posted.

Europeans aren't as quick to answer emails as are Americans.

A fax or phone call gets a quicker response.

Whereas I continue to disagree with Ira's oft-posted generalization about the so-called Europen slowness in answering e-mails (obviously Ira hasn't had the good fortune to e-mail some of the European establishments I frequent) I DO agree that you'd be better off using the telephone.

Faxes..what makes you think anyone will answer a fax any faster than e-mail? Faxes take even MORE time to deal with..get on the phone and stop worrying about it.

Hi intrepid,

>Faxes..what makes you think anyone will answer a fax any faster than e-mail? <

Because, in my experience, I usually get a response to a fax in 24 hrs.

>(obviously Ira hasn't had the good fortune to e-mail some of the European establishments I frequent)<

If you let me know their names, I shall decide if my fortune has been good or bad. :)

Well... I've stayed at La Calcina twice and both times we made arrangements via fax.

La Calcina is deservedly popular so depending on how far in advance you are asking and what time of year you will visit, they could be booked already or not booking out that far.

Oh, for room rates they are on the website: www.lacalcina.com

Got an email back from LaCalcina. They are booked for June 9-12 already. Boo-hoo.
